A former children’s home, it was already more than 100 years old when it was converted into a hospice in 1971. The building’s age and structure are creating limitations on the 350 staff and 700 volunteers who work tirelessly to help improve the lives of their patients and their ability to evolve to meet the growing and changing needs of the patients they serve.

On 30th April 2021, Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council granted their planning application for a New Hospice in Heald Green. Subject to funding the required £20 million, they hope to start to dig the foundations of the new hospice in the Spring of 2022. With 21 individual en-suite bedrooms and two three-bed bays, they will be able to serve the needs of their community now and in the future.
