On Monday 8 December 2014, 38 East Lancashire Mark Masons travelled to London for the Annual Grand RAM Assembly. Leaving Manchester Piccadilly at 10.15am, the travellers were well fed and watered by the Grand Stewards assisted by several Past Grand Stewards from this and other Provinces.
On Monday evening, a goodly number attended Grand Stewards Mark Lodge in support of this year’s Grand Stewards, W.Bros. Malcolm McCarthy and Paul Wareing. Following the Social Board, there was a quick return to the Union Jack Club where all partook of a little liquid refreshment and enjoyed a happy evening of Mark company.
On Tuesday, Grand RAM commenced at 4.30pm so the morning was free to follow various pursuits which ranged from Christmas shopping to attending the Imperial War Museum.
The MW Pro. Grand Master, Richard Victor Wallis, presided at the Annual Assembly and invested over 170 brethren with their Grand Ranks. These included W.Bros. Ken Hampson, Barry Heal, Beverley Heywood, Michael Green and John Smith and we congratulate those East Lancashire Brethren on their preferment.
Dinner followed the meeting with the East Lancs team leaving slightly early in order to catch the 9 o’clock train back to Manchester. On the return journey we were again well watered by Malcolm McCarthy and his assistants. Thanks to all of them for looking after us so well and also to Tracey, our usual Virgin Rail stewardess, who is so kind to us all.
A most enjoyable two days in the capital with great Mark Fellowship enjoyed by all.
