On Tuesday 16th September , our Provincial Grand Master, R.W.Bro. Keith Schofield, G.M.R.A.C. accompanied by W.Bro. John Smith, P.G.Stwd, A.Prov.G.M. attended the installation of the new Provincial Grand Master for the Mark Province of Durham.
At their Provincial Meeting in June, R.W.Bro. Peter Croft announced that he would be retiring as Provincial Grand Master after almost twenty years in office. He indicated that the M.W.Grand Master had selected his Deputy Provincial Grand Master to succeed him.
Over two hundred brethren assembled to witness the Pro.Grand Master, M.W.Bro. Richard Victor Wallis install V.W.Bro. Professor Denovan (Denny) Keith Wilson as the 9th Provincial Grand Master of Durham since the split from Northumberland in 1910. Our own Provincial Grand Master acted as Installing Senior Warden and he was word-perfect. It was a non-speaking part!
The new P.G.M. then installed his Deputy and Assistant Provincial Grand Masters following which we enjoyed the usual Durham lunch of roast turkey and Yorkshire pudding!
A wonderful day of Mark Masonry which was concluded by 3.00p.m.
Our congratulations to Denny Wilson and we look forward to seeing him in the Province of East Lancashire in the near future.
