On the 21st October I attended the Floyd Unit in Oldham which is part of the NHS Trust for the area and specialises in neurological rehabilitation for patients with paralasis. The Floyd Unit was opened in October 1988 and is based on the Birch Hill Hospital site, Birch Road, Rochdale. It is an eighteen bedded unit that provides a comprehensive rehabilitation service to male and female adults from the age of sixteen who have a neurological disability, which may have occurred as a result of an accident or injury.
This came to light when Stewart Hardacre a member of Salford Mark woke up one morning with total paralysis from a nerve complaint. He received outstanding care at the above unit and although he was flat on his back for about 9 months with the treatment he received he is now walking again. He mentioned to Reg that the unit needed a new TV for the day room, Reg told me and we funded a 50 inch TV from the East Lancashire Mark Benevolent Fund

Well done Stewart, I know that Birch Hill is an excellent hospital all round and I’m talking from experiences,, first they saved my wifes’ life on the birth of our second daughter, when she lost most of her blood, police knocking me up in the middle of the night, that was 48 years ago, my mother was very well cared for there before passing away and same with my father in law, who had a massive heart attack, but staff at this hospital went the extra mile to try and save him,,
I hope you continue in good health Stewart and enjoy your Masonry, especially Mark Masonry.
